Freedom’s Herald feels obligated to speak out and provide resources for information on the people and situation in Eastern Turkestan. Renamed ‘Xinjiang’ or ‘New Dominion,’ in the late 19th century by the Manchurian Qing Dynasty, the people of Eastern Turkestan are not a Chinese people, as the historically recent name change implies. Decades-long efforts are underway through Chinese government policies, regulations, and laws to erase the cultural identity of the people of Eastern Turkestan, the Uyghurs. Link to website

The Uyghur Human Rights Project promotes the rights of the Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslim peoples in East Turkistan, referred to by the Chinese government as the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, through research-based advocacy.
